Moqui Cave is a Kanab Utah museum depicting life in southern Utah spanning the centuries. This southern Utah museum of natural history also features a sandstone cave museum and a Kanab Utah gift shop. The sandstone cave museum houses Native American artifacts, dinosaur tracks, fluorescent mineral rocks, and fossils. It conveniently offers tourist information southern Utah visitors will find invaluable.

Moqui Cave itself has quite a unique history. The late Garth and Laura Chamberlain purchased the cave in 1951 and turned it into southern Utah’s first dance hall and bar. Furthermore, during the week, one could grab a bite to eat and something cool to drink at their fully functional bar. Live bands would come play on Friday and Saturday nights, making it an area hotspot.

A sandstone cave museum was always in the Chamberlains’ sights as Garth studied geology, archaeology, and paleontology. The exhibits on display are his personal findings after years of studies and collecting. They include more than 1,000 arrowheads, ceremonial points, jugs, pots, bowls, and working tools from the Puebloan Era. There is a sizeable collection of dinosaur tracks and fossils. Most of them were found in the surrounding area. The fluorescent mineral displays at the sandstone cave museum is one of the largest in the U.S.

In addition, Moqui Cave also has a Kanab Utah gift shop and rock shop. It features items for purchase, including Native American arts and crafts, rugs, pottery, and turquoise. The Kanab Utah gift shop has a wide variety of fossils, rocks, and minerals found locally and throughout the world. It is one of the most unique and impressive collections in the country.

Bus tours are always welcome at Moqui Cave.
