Kanab Heritage Museum begins its path of exhibits with the earliest inhabitants of the Navajo and Paiute cultures within the Colorado Plateau. Kanab Heritage Museum was built in 1939 and 1940 and placed on the Utah State historic registry in 2002. It originally served as the city’s library. The Kanab Heritage House is just a short walk from the Heritage Museum. John Rider and his son F.M. Rider built the house in 1894 for Henry Eyring Bowman. They made it from locally quarried stone and local lumber. Edwin M. Ford burned and moulded the kiln brick for the interior and exterior walls. The Heritage House is a journey back into Kanab’s daily life. You’ll sense a connection to the past at the Kanab Heritage House as a different time surrounds you.
